Monsignor Mario Mazzotti was born in Sant'Alberto in 1907, and died in Ravenna in 1983.
A leading expert of "antiquities Ravenna" is still considered today was archaeologist, archivist, university professor and founder of the Society of Romagnoli Studies .
In 1937, while already engaged in the preservation of the artistic heritage of Ravenna, he was entrusted with the parish of Santa Maria in Porto Fuori, destroyed in November 1944 by an allied air raid. Since that time the study and research diventanole dominant activities of his life.
The Art Museum of the city of Ravenna, while dedicating an exhibition to the tragic loss of quell'insigne monument, wanted to organize - even during the 110 years since the birth - two days of study to enhance the scientific rigor of Mazzotti, passionate student and to hand down the cultural heritage to young researchers.
